Description
Situated between the Moremi Game Reserve and the Chobe National Park, Mankwe is an ideal gateway to exploring this area. Moremi is undoubtedly one of the most famous Parks in Africa, and a protected area of the Okavango Delta.
Mankwe’s campsites can be accessed in 2×4 vehicles, but the roads in the area are very sandy, so ideally it is better to have a vehicle with 4×4 capabilities. Driving time from Maun is approximately 1hr45 minutes.
Moremi is situated in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango, and includes the Moremi Tongue and Chief’s Island, boasting one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems on the continent.

Trips can be arranged between Mankwe and the Mboma Boat Station up into the Okavango Delta, offering the visitor a unique safari tour with a full day’s game viewing in between. Mankwe also offers game drives in 4x4 safari vehicles on its own concession area.

The owners/management were very generous in allowing us to use the pool at their resort, which was a different location from the camping area where we stayed. This was a welcome relief, as temperatures reached 42°C on the day that we were there! The campsite was beautiful and we had elephants wandering through in the night! They were very polite and circumnavigated the camp, without entering closer than 15 meters. We also heard hyenas, but they did not bother us. It was a magical evening in the bush!
